Joan has over 20 years of experience representing public, quasi-public, and private entities in Colorado.  Joan works with local government and private sector clients on a multitude of issues including the formation of special districts, public finance, contract drafting and negotiations, board governance, elections, statutory compliance, land use and organizational issues.  Joan also conducts special district due diligence for lenders and purchasers.  Joan’s clients benefit from many years of experience with a wide range of issues, tailored to the specific needs and goals of each client.

Joan understands the importance of developing and maintaining a positive working relationship with clients, their agents and employees, other local governments, community associations and organizations, and private sector entities with which her clients interact. 

Joan began her legal career working for the Adams County Attorney, then she worked in private practice.  Joan is licensed to practice law in Colorado and Arizona and has served on the Special District Association Executive Legislative Committee.  Joan participated in the Metro North Chamber of Commerce Leadership Program.

Joan holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law where she was a staff member of the University of Denver Law Review.  Joan was awarded her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Marquette University.  Joan’s community involvement includes serving on the Board of Directors for the Civic Center Conservancy and volunteering for nonprofit organizations and schools in her community.  Joan and her family are avid skiers and hikers.
